The Bios on ASUS A7V KT 333 gives an option in Boot Menu, Plug & Play O/S [NO] [Yes]. I run Win 98 SE. I had my system configured in [NO] default setting and worked fine except I could not get the MS force feedback Pro to work(with the patch). So I changed to [Yes] hoping to fix it and system would boot only in safe mode. I tried to reinstall Win 98 in [No] setting but I got blue screen at the end of windows setup. So I went back to [YES] and Win 98 reinstalled and I run my sustem sort of OK. The joystick issue got even worse, now I have hardware issue in Device Manager with Creative Gameport Joystick. It appears that it needs a driver. When I try to update the driver the screen turns black. Any suggestions???:r

Windows 98 is a four year old operating system, have you considered upgrading? It would seem that if you have an A7V333 that you should have something more recent. Win 2k Pro or XP would do nicely. The Plug and Play OS should probably be set to no.

yeah, that particular option should be set to NO. In Windows 98, setting it to yes can have the same effect as turning off ACPI. I still love my windows 98... I'm just not willing to move up when i've had no problem with the one I've got.
