Wow, I continue to see Morrowind mentioned all over this forum. The game looks cool, I have heard things about it, but I do not have it. How many of you all have it? Is it as good as many people make it out to be?:t

The game looks cool, I have heard things about it, but I do not have it. How many of you all have it? Is it as good as many people make it out to be?:t Optimus Prime 07-23-2002, 05:56 PM i have it, it is what it is cracked up to be as long as you have a fast computer, unlike moi. AceAirman 07-23-2002, 06:01 PM So what is the basic plot. Optimus Prime 07-23-2002, 06:17 PM you know what, i have no f*cking idea, ive been playing it for 3 weeks and im totally lost in the hundreds of sidequests there are to do. I dont know what the story line is, really! right now im in a cave exploring some dark elf smugglers. Wow, its a great game! :) It is so open ended its unbelievable. AceAirman 07-23-2002, 07:51 PM Wow sounds awesome. I gotta get it. gibsinep 07-24-2002, 11:25 AM I have never been a fan of this type a game ACE, as you know, however it isnt too bad, but just like Optimus Prime I am totally lost with what is going on. Ace better what for your new computer to get it your old one wont be able to handle it. ;) AceAirman 07-24-2002, 11:53 AM Yeah, Gib I had the new system in mind when I said I should get it. It'll show off the new stuff well. :) But yeah I know you don't really like these kind of games, but I always enjoyed them, depending on how good it is of course. Optimus Prime 07-24-2002, 03:40 PM long? LONG?! you could be playing it until you are old and grey, unless you are the following: BipolarBill . :) grimfandango 07-24-2002, 04:05 PM Originally posted by Optimus Prime long? But, it's not for me. I use it mostly for Testing, and only to Explore the nice enviroment inside the game. I only truely play Strategical games only. couch potato 07-28-2002, 01:33 AM i dont have it, but i heard the fun factor was high Aznmask 07-28-2002, 11:51 AM this game is terrible you might like it when u see the screenshot, but when u really play it. I swear you wont like it... Also the system requirement is high. you need atleast 1gzh , & a geforce 3 or 4 TI, Tditty 07-28-2002, 06:38 PM I am a BIG gamer and very picky , I bought this game about a month ago after taking back Neverwinter Nights, which i thought was horrible, and every time I play it swallows a few hours of my time and so far I still dont know where I am at or what I am doing :) but I love it. The scenery is beautiful and you can find yourself wandering around for hours just enjoying yourself and killing a few things on the way. Very Open ended and im sure it will continue to pull me out of the real world for many many months to come . ... gibsinep 07-28-2002, 11:49 PM Installing again right now to give it another try. Aznmask 07-29-2002, 12:23 AM One thing i dont like those 3D RPG is that you have to deal with NPC and do all the stupid quest. No point.. I rather play 3d mmorpg.. so i can talk to people alive, and fight. So if you are big fan of 3d rpg give this game a try .. Comming Soon. Final Fantasy XI World of Warcraft - http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/ Lineage 2 - http://www.lineage2.com gibsinep 07-29-2002, 12:33 AM Well, after trying it gain I relize how much I did hate it again :D Dave Myers 07-29-2002, 09:15 PM I really dig Morrowind. I may not finish the freakin game until I am 40, but I dig it. I would describe Morrowind as Myst, blended with The Legend of Zelda and Dragon Warrior, pan fried between two slices of Hexen with a side of Final Fantasy III and a tall glass of Stephen King's Dark Tower series to drink. You make the game what you want it to be. gibsinep 07-29-2002, 11:36 PM I am not one for a lot of talking to people in games. I would rather read my objectives and use force to take them :D Moliere 07-30-2002, 12:39 PM I've been playing the game for a couple of weeks now and I'm completely addicted. It's great because there are so many options on who you want to help and which type of quests you want to solve. For example, I'm spending most of my time working my way up the Fighter and Mage Guild ladders and not worrying too much about the Main Plot line which you're only given slowly anyway. The graphics, gameplay and sound are great. I'm running an AMD 1800 + machine with 256 DDR Ram and GeForce 3 Ti 200. Even with this I still have to reboot about every hour because of the slowdown. Noriko 08-01-2002, 09:29 PM Morrowind...hmm. Funny how what you see on the screen never looks quite as good as the pics on the box. I guess they go to max rez and use full anti-aliasing...the game is a slide-show but they get good screenies out of it. Apart from that I'm taking it back for one reason only...the 'combat'. When I walk up behind a person who is dressed only in shirt and trousers (no armor or helmet) and pan him in the head with a battleax the size of a car door I don't expect him to turn around and start caning me with his sword. My suspension of disbelief goes straight down the crapper right there. I also don't appreciate not being able to bust open chests with the same ax. I killed the owners of four shops and was unable to find their gold. Yes, I did buy lock-picks in another town and went back to pick my victims' chests but was informed the locks were "too complex". So why can't I simply smash them open with my ax? I know the gold is in them...and why can't I simply steal the whole chest? Some of them are cash-register size, should be easy to carry. Jeez...I'm able to plunder all the goods and lug that around. Anyway, Like I said, the combat kills the game for me. I expect a big ax or sword to do some serious damage on an un-protected foe. I might as well be swatting them with a rolled-up newspaper in this game. Oh yes...the rain is truly excellent. Dave Myers 08-01-2002, 09:40 PM Originally posted by Noriko . Try buying ax training, or what ever. This game was designed for high end cards to achive the graphics shown on screen shots GF3 or Radeon 8500 at least, preferably a GF4. I can't wait till the Radeon 9700/9500 to have a go at this game. God knows I'll still be playing it when they release the R300.:p Noriko 08-01-2002, 09:51 PM I have a GF4 running at 1600x1200x32 and it still looked better on the box art. As for the ax thing...the target isn't moving, I have my ax back over my head, I line the target up perfectly (and he still hasn't cottened-on he's about to get whacked, but then it ain't gonna hurt him so why should he worry?) and then whack him. Result? He pulls out a sword and canes me with it. I don't care how un-trained I might be...my ax hit him in his unprotected head...he should be on the deck sucking brain-soup. Still can't beat Soul-Blade on the PS1 for intelligent and very satisfying sword-fighting. :) SysOpt.com
