Hey, troops, one of our own needs your help.

Maybe you've seen the thread by Balun. He's been getting a run-around from Micro Trends, Inc. about a faulty BX6-2 they sold him. While waiting and waiting, days and more days, for help from tech support, he contacted Abit and promptly received a replacement BIOS. It didn't solve the problem so he went back to the M-T sales rep who got tech support to call within an hour. He told the rep about the replacement BIOS and later was told that it voided M-T's warranty ~ something the rep could have mentioned. Further, he was told that clearing the CMOS also voided the warranty. On the last exchange, the Tech Support person refused to let him talk to a manager, so he hung up.

This kind of thing deserves a strong response. All it costs a vendor to exchange a faulty product is the shipping back to the Mfr. for a credit. I know I'll be avoiding Micro Trends like the plague from now on.

I'd be happy to send them a letter!

First off, what does their warranty info/policy state, maybe we can use it as ammunition. I'm asking because you have to submit names, credit card numbers etc. just to get to that page! Pretty rediculous in my opinion.

This kinda **** should not be taken lightly.
Let's teach these guys a lesson.

Micro Trends also provides advanced replacement service for 30 days from the original invoice date on all motherboards. Advanced replacement is subject to the limitations and restrictions listed in the standard advanced replacement policy below.

Refund Coverage:
Micro Trends will accept Motherboards which are returned for refund less a 20% non negotiable restocking fee, for a period of thirty (30) days from the original invoice date subject to the limitations listed in our standard refund policy below.

Now, if they would have returned my original call in a timely manner it would have been in the 30 day time frame.

Bios problem solved !!
I just received an email from NuovoTech and he said there was a problem with the fan headers 1&2 when using the third tach wire.
Well, I tried it and it works, I can now access all bios functions. A real big thank you to NuovoTech.

I wish to thank everyone for their support. But I wouldn't say it's too late as some seem to think. Even though there is a work around for my problem MT was too quick not to offer support. They are my first bad experience with online shopping.

Below is a c&p of a letter I received from MTrends in Eastlake Ohio. Sure looks like they want repeat business. But they are a business and this is pretty standard.

I will tell you what happened from this side, but will let any open response to any site to the correct people.

If one would read our policy, it states: (url supplied below)

Micro Trends, Inc. shall not be liable for incidental or consequential damages resulting from the use of any product, or arising out of any breach of this warranty. Duration of implied warranties, if any, limited to one year. This warranty is only extended to the original purchaser. A purchase receipt or other proof of date of original purchase will be required before warranty performance is rendered. This warranty only covers failures due to defects in materials or workmanship which result from normal use. It does not cover failures due to defects which occur in shipment or failures which are caused by products not supplied by Micro Trends, Inc., or failures which result from accident, misuse, abuse, neglect, mishandling, misapplication, alteration, faulty installation, modification or service by anyone other than a factory service center, or damage that is attributable to acts of nature.

We give ABITS phone number, because they offer a one year warranty, that we do honor that long, but we can not accept back an item that has been "altered", due to the warranty that we offered by the vendor. We have been burt on this before, and this is why when we were informed that the BIOS chip had been replaced, we said that it would have to be handled through the manufacturer. If they would contact us with an RMA and approval to return his board, we would have.

Now, the fact that there was no problem, is a whole other story in of itself, but that is one that can be disputed for ages. The thing that I would like to address, is the response times. We try to return all calls within 24-48 hours, and almost never go over that. I can say that it has not gone over that for some time now. Now if the calls started on a Friday night, then that would put it into Wednesday morning for it to be "overdue" (since Tech Support is not open on WEEKENDS - as stated on the main phone greeting for our company).

We can not please everyone all the time, but we try, and we have to stick to our policy, or we would not even exist to make anyone happy.
