I have several MAC emulators and they all say I need a ROM from a MAC 68020, 68030, or 68040 but all I have is a MAC Performa 5200 CD, would that ROM work? If not where can I get one and why don't sites allow you to download them with the emulators?

I guess the 5200 CD is a power PC so does anyone know where to get a ROM from one of the ones mentioned above or do you have to own one of them?

Mac emulation-been there done that. I think you are confused. The rom isnt on a cd at all. ITs a rom card that stores the bios info on it. You need that image in order to boot! Just like a PSX bios image in order to boot a low emulation emulator-high emulation uses its own made up image. Anyhow you need a back up of your mac rom-like a bios rom file. Hope that helped you some.:t

Getting an image is not a problem it is finding a MAC that isn't a power MAC and that is what I have, I need the ROM from a 680x0 computer:(

I thought roms were games that had been ripped into a PC format and that can run on an emulator? Anyways I thought emulators were against sysopt policy:confused: Are you talking bout running a mac os on a computer? Or to emulate it?

Bizkitkid2001-
"roms were games that had been ripped into a PC format "

not at all. THis is a bios image. A snapshot of the mac bios that the emu. uses as it actually runs the OS and suports the mac progs. You must own the system though that you extract the rom image from. Just like a PSX.

Its not illegal to run a mac emulator if the mac you are emulating you own. Thats totally legal and what emulation is for-not for running systems you dont own or pirated games-oh wait they call them backups!

Sorry -but the only legal way to do it is to buy a used 680x0 system and then extract the bios rom image. The upside is it runs on these newer systems 20x faster than it ever did on the original!
Hold on to your power pc though cause they are on the brink of emulating that one too. And then you will have the legal rights to that aswell.;) :t

I have been reading that hopefully the Power PC emulation will come out soon, although I don't know if my PC will take running a mac very well:rolleyes:
