Having a 24x Re-Writable speed is rather pointless as long as there are no CDRW medias made for it.

CDRW drives are limitted by what the CDRW disk allows them to record at

right now i'm using http://www.plextor.com/english/products/40_12_40A.html

meanwhile with CDRs i can make a full 700 meg CD in under 3min

on the CDRW counterpart i'm still limited to how fast the Media allows the drive to run at.

Say for instance i have a CDRW disk made for 12x, then that's the only timei can use that speed.

and when i use older CDRW disk, that were made way back for 2x or 4x, then those are the speed i can use them on.

the Drive actually checks with the Disk before you can even select which speed at which you want to write at.

So unless they start making more CDRW disk for speed faster than 10x, then there's no point for a 24x drive.

last i check most CDRW disks that can be purchased in burk even thought it claims speed up to 16x, it wont pass 10x.

only a few expensive brands, will mach 12x.

Yep there is no point, its better to wait for the media to come out and get the drive while its affordable.

Man 48x24x48, I barley got my 40x12x48 havent installed it yet and they come out with something faster.

I've read that 4x rw drives cannot use rw media that is rated higher than 4x.
