Someone at MicroShaft got off the porn sites long enough to finally name its upcoming Windows 2001 Professional. We can now refer to this operating system (I guess you could call it that?!) as WinXP, or Windows eXPerience. If the final release is anything like the last beta, it will be an experience all right. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
Here (http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2001/Feb01/02-05NamingPR.asp) is the official PR.
BTW, all suggestions, comments, and questions regarding MS software can now be directed here (http://www.microsith.com/support.php3) .

Amen, and I'll second to that! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Also, I have been leaning towards BeOS lately. Just if nVidia or ATI would get around to releasing some OpenGL accelerated drivers.

The BeOS micro-kernel is fast indeed, but I fear it is destined for the wayside. I have now 2 SCSI cards that are not supported in BeOS http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif

Yes, I definitely understand your concerns. I believe Be would benefit be open sourcing the code for development. It appears they are currently more interested in developing BeIA, as this will likely return more money in the long term.
How about QNX anyone? The microkernal is extremely fast, and underground support is moving along quite well. I will likely be dropping my QNX bos for atleast couple a days, as I hope to try Solaris 8 sometime this week.

Does BeOS run Windows applications or do they have their own applications?

Q: When will Windows XP be released? UPDATED!
A: Microsoft is planning to release Windows XP in September 2001, one year after the release of Windows Me.
