About a week ago I replaced the FOP32-1 on my Tbird with a PAL6035 w/Sanyo Denki fan. Now my computer is quiet enough for me to realize that my HD is not powering down!
The HD is a 7200 rpm ATA66 Western Digital (model WD205BA) and it is connected to the Raid controller on my KT7-Raid.
I have adjusted the "Power Options", power options in the BIOS, and even tried a utility called HDsleep to try and get the thing to sleep. I get the same results in Win2k and WinME.
Any ideas what is wrong?

I had the same trouble. I was getting a corrupt "system" file in Win2000 regularly on two idetical machines with your HDD (and oh by the way the WD200BB has no problem). Finally I had seen enough postings in the forums to see something was wrong with the RAID controller and some HDDs. Since that drive is only a 66 anyway, and the IDE ports are 66 on the board, I just plugged into the regular IDE ports. I have had no errors on these two machines for two weeks now. So, there is some incompatibility issue. As long as you don't need the RAID functionality, this solved my problem. I think I have read that IBM drives work well on the Highpoint controller as does the WD200BB. I also think I am reading that the BIOS upgrade helps, although I have not been bold or smart enough to figure how to do the flash upgrade.

I haven't had any problems with getting corrupted system files, I just couldn't get the HD to power down.
I did the same thing as you and put my HD on the regular IDE ports which ARE ATA66 capable (there used to be a lot of debate over this). Now my HD powers down, although, it does so a lot better in WinME. Windows 2000 tends to wake it up every once in a while.
Don't forget to disable the Raid controller in the BIOS. Bootup time will decrease drastically and you'll save an IRQ (or at least it's one less device that will have to be shared on an IRQ).
As for the BIOS upgrade, I've been through almost all of them and none of them seemed to help the sleepless HD problem on the RAID.

Now that my HD powers down, my computer gets really quiet. I replaced the power supply with an Enermax 330W "Whisper" and when my computer goes into standby you can barely hear it. That's the way it should be.

Sorry I misread the note the first time. I hadn't even tried the power saving options because of the HD troubles. Maybe I'll try them now. This MoBo surely wasn't quite as stellar as some of the reviews indicated.
