AMD will never stop making chips.! Atleast not now!

Intel is also loosing money and market value! More people are now buying AMD cpus!!
They will never close now!

I think we had a battle before if AMD was going to go out of the picture.

Well what would happen is Intel would raise prices a bit. As who else can you buy from. Cyrix? no thanks.

As much as some people hate AMD, thank goodness they are there giving Intel competition. Without them we would see some higher price for Intel chips. That just my opinion though.

I dont think AMD will go out of the market. They have been around for a long long time. I at least hope they don't.

Intel would raise prices, and cut back on research funding. I hear Intel currently spends just over $4,000,000,000 on research each year. Yes, that is 4 billion dollars. As I recall, at the time I read the 4 billion number, their net income was around 7 billion. I'd like to see VIA make a serious entry into the high end processor market.

The C3 is ideal for silent machines. It's the perfect solution for an internet machine - doesn't even need active cooling. VIA is perfectly capable of producing a high quality and high performance CPU - they choose not to because they don't see any possibility for a great deal of profit by doing so.

why go for via ????

there is AMD duron and intel celerons !
which dont need a power ful heatsink/fan!!!

C3 processors require no CPU fan if you set it up properly. They appeal to a very niche market. I have an Athlon XP 1900+ and a Duron 1.3, no sense in arguing over it.

I think if there was not an AMD, Intel would be the leading world maker of CPUs. Thus most of us would have to buy over priced CPUs and the technology would be less advanced.

Its like your local tv cable company; they are the only ones that supply your tv in the city. They can raise thier prices anytime they want and cut back on quality. That was until people started to use those Direct TV mini sats.:p
