Well it depends. My board also has both but I use neither of the two. I used my onboard sound for a while, but it didnt support 4.1 speakers so I then got a New turtle beach sound card. So I dont use that. Also I had a D-link 530tx+ network card, so I use that versus my onboard one.

Do you have a soundcard? Do you need sound? If so then onboard sound weould be good for you. Same goes for onboard Lan.

It's probably more a matter of money then anything. If your budget is tight, go with the onboard. If you can spare some dinero, pick up a good network card and a good sound card. You can get SoundBlaster Live 5.1 OEM for around $30-$35.

I've put together quite a few systems with that ECS board, including my girlfriends, and I've had no problems with either the on-board sound or network. She's using the on-board network. The original drivers that came with the board didn't work well. So instead, I got the drivers from the SIS site, and they worked fine.

My M/B also has both, but there wasn't that big a price difference between, with and without.
But I have the sound and Lan disabled.
