I need to know how do I go about disabling the Ultra100 bios from my Mobo. I talked to someone else in a different section of this forum and after I read the replies I now see this is more a less a direct issue with the bios and not my HDDs.
I checked in my manual like the person here suggested but it didn't have much detail about the actual Award bios options and mainly focused on setting up the main options to get your system running as would any Mobo manual.
So in short all I need to know is how do I go about disabling the Ultra100 bios in the Award Bios setup? Any help is greatly appreciated.:p :)

Don't assume that anyone in this thread knows which motherboard you have, frodo.
From my experience, it cannot be defeated. If you hate to wait, press ESC. Otherwise, hook it up - it's faster than what you're using.
Oh - and stay in your thread please.

I wasn't jumping out of my thread and the type of mobo I have doesn't even matter. My problem is a bios problem so I was just posting in the section it belongs. I was just hoping I could get help from somebody who is a bit more familliar with the Award bios.

Frodo, each BIOS is written for a specific motherboard. Award makes a *modular* BIOS which may or may not have the features you are talking about. Please state your motherboard so we can at least research for you by downloading the manual.
As a moderator, I know thread-jumping when I see it. You have an open thread on this subject already. Don't tempt me.

Funny...FIC doesn't have manuals online and doesn't list the AN11 at all.
My experience tells me that if there was a switch, it would be in Integrated Peripherals. I have seen boards like yours from better manufacturers like Abit and Soyo. These boards did not have a jumper or BIOS switch to disable it.
If you don't like the wait and error report, move your drive to it. You will not get an error that way and the BIOS will initialize faster. Trust me.

Check for more FIC info at their USA website www.fica.com

According to the manual, you can disable RAID, but you can't disable the controller entirely. It's always at least an ATA controller.

Why do you even need to disable it all together. I can see turning raid off obviously but the whole controler. Why? If its not pluged into a device it makes no dif. It wont be comunicating therfore not congesting the bus or even doing anything. :t
