Everytime I open Outlook Express the little "Snowman" hops onto my taskbar and can't be killed, even after I close Outlook. I don't want messanger to activate, ever! Is this possible?

Outlook express has no such feature that I am aware of.
Did you apply some sort of mod?

In OE, click on Tools > Options and uncheck the fourth item there. In Messenger, Tools > Options and uncheck "Allow to run in the background".

Messenger icon in tray.

btw Bill that was excellent advice. I'd been wondering about it myself!:)

Why not put your PC's idle time to good use by downloading the seti@home client HERE (http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/download.html) and then joining the Sysopt.com Users 2002 Team HERE (http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/cgi?cmd=team_lookup&name=Sysopt.com+Users+2002) :D

If you are using 2k, you can actually uninstall messenger. It's on the list of Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

Gee, you guys are quick, I was just about to suggest a blowtorch! My favorite for zapping snowmen, but then what would I know, I haven't seen a snowman in 30 years of living here. :D

For windows XP I know there is a command you type into the RUN box that completely removes windows messenger from your system. I dont have the link on me but do a search for "uninstall windows messenger" or something like that in google.

Assuming you are running win XP with Outlook Express. By defult when you open outlook instant messanger runs also. this pigged me off also. some one hear told me to go to the task bar select thr run command and type:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

This should do the trick it did for me.
Best of luck.

PS. you try this at your own risk.

I was hooked on that SH*T for 2 years. Part of my life I would like to forget. Took me being sick of it to quit. Go smack him for me-more than once.;) :p  :t

The only drugs that I can take more than once are psychadelics. Frankly, I haven't got time for that anymore. I always hated coke and speed. I grew out of weed really fast. It made me feel stupid, if you can imagine that. :p

Thanks guys. I was pretty proud of myself seeing how I did it on my own. Most the people I did it with ended up in rehab more than once-they cant believe I quit cold turkey with no help. The worst part was withdrawl. That and keeping my mind off it-PC's help!:) The real awakening was when I O.D. one night. Next day threw it all away:eek: . The roof of my mouth was so deteriated that it burned badly whenever I ate food. I got my girlfreind to help keep me in line now. LOL, she would kill me if I ever did that stuff again!

Dont worry, after your off it you see the light. Never going down that road again. And I feel very sorry for those who wake up too late.:( :) :t

how much these little conversations make me smile! :)

First:

Bill, you have been, and may well always be, "THE MAN"!! You are always waay, tooo right on! And NO, I can't imagine you, and the the word stupid, in even the same thought! :D

Spoonman, Thanks! :t

BJUK, This may be what I need! :)

Bigjakk, I maybe should have been more clear, but I have learned one thing, when it comes to posting. You have to get attention to get replies. :) Kill the "Little SNOWMAN", seemed like an attention getter.

And Now, P4..., I am, often, surprised to discover that friends, who I have considered to be very intelligent, have had past experiences with illegalities, (that have the reputation of BRAIN FRYING! "This is your mind on ..." ) In my pre-university days, I also had a few recreational adventures. I have a good friend, of 30 years, that still has lapses with the white MONSTER! He's been doing good for the last year, but I am always worrying when he's hanging with the "wrong" folks.

You have my admiration for what you have accomplished. And my prayers that you may continue in your success! :)

Thanks, ALL!!!

P.S. Bill, You won't believe how I chuckled at the term "MOFO". Have been using it, myself, lately. Thought it was a dinosaur egg!
