It would probably have been best to do a fresh format and install of XP, if you did that I bet you wouldnt have these problems. What do you mean it doesnt detect your Video card? In device manager what is it listed as? And/or does it have an error by it. Have you tryed updating the drivers from the disk that came with the card by going into deivce manager>display adpaters>properties>driver>update driver. Then install that way.
My best advice wouldbe to re-format and install XP from a fresh drive. Unless of course you already had and I was confused by saying you installed xp from 98se.

is it an XP upgrade version and did you do a clean install on a blank hard drive using the old 98se cd to prove you bought windows before
or did you just install XP over the old 98se setup - bad idea
the latest nvidia is at top BUT the sound is probably your motherboard ( what kind ) or is it soundblaster - who knows ?
the modem is probably the same - needs new XP drivers - who make it ?????
old equipment = old windows
new equipment = new windows
and manufacturers test to make sure the stuff works

Even a clean install of XP won't solve the problem if your hardware doesn't appear on the HCL as being compatible with XP. You can get by with it if you download & install XP-compatible drivers from the manuf. If they're not signed, you may still have problems.
Good luck.

Before you install XP over an older operating system you need to make sure you have all the new XP drivers ready.
If you dont yoy will experience exactly the problems you've got.
I would suggest rolling the XP install back - there is an option for this, but cannot remember where! - look in help.
Then download XP drivers, and then install XP again.
I had to do this on my first attempt but I got everything working in the end.
The secret of a good install is planning and patience.
