HEllo,
posted a few questions about motherboards, but didnt exactly find what I hoped. I also asked few wrong questions, need to somewhat start from the beginning. Now I know my question would sound pretty dumb to you "high tech" people out there, but I dont know much, if at all, about pc hardware. I want to upgrade to a new cpu, and add more ram, but need to find out if my mbo will handle it.
1) Where exactly on the motherboard do I find its manufacturer? I have looked without any success. Bought a refurbished (i know, i know.. :( ) pc, and no manuals came with it. If anyone can send me a pic of their motherboard and where exactly I can find the manufacture, than.. :t
2) Can someone point me to the site where ALL motherboard info (ram, cpu and etc. upgrades) can be found?
thank you

On the first screen you will see upon bootup there will be a string of numbers on the bottom left of the page.
Something like
2A59L-XXXX-XXX
Or
51-1506-XXXX-XXXX
Or
12/09/1999 i440LX
Write down these numbers exactly as you see them and look
here (http://www.wimsbios.com/).

There are a couple apps that can also help...
Belarc (http://www.belarc.com/Download.html) and CTBIOS along with other tools at http://www.motherboards.org/moboidtools.html
If the system is a Compaq or HP it would be better to search their site by the model and s/n of the pc, which would be on the back.

oh, i didnt know you can pause that. Never knew what pause key was exactly for... I have WinME, and it doesnt show that info, it just configured to show you the WinME logo and it goes exactly to the windows explorer. How exactly do you restart comuter with dos or bring up dos window before you go into the Explorer?
thanx

Here (http://horde.planetmirror.com/pub/asus/mb/sock370/810/mew-am/mewam-102.pdf) is your manual from asus. It's 3.7 mb in pdf format. (means you'll need adobe reader to open it. gives you all the specs. MEW-AM is the model of mobo you have. Has an 810 chipset so at this time theres no all that much room to grow.
