What style is it (Slot 1 or Socket 370)?

Either way, I would buy an Abit BX-6 Rev 2 motherboard and get a slocket if needed.

I would look at a Asus TUSL2-C it would give you some update life later on. I can take the intel tulutin cpu. There is nothing built in on this board. But there are other features on the other - models of this same board.

In the Abit line the ST6 is also capable of supporting the tulatin cpu also. You can get this board with or without raid.

I have used the Asus TUSL2-c board. Very stable. I installed one in my girls computer a while back. The bios isn't as detailed as the Abit is. But eather board would make a good choise.

If you're okay with using a pretty dang good Via chipset:

Asus P3V4X is a slot 1 mobo I had with my P3 667EB. I LOVED that board. Rock stable, superior quality, overclocked nicely to 150fsb. Uses Via Apollo Pro 133a chipset ( the southbridge was the older one )

Asus CUV4X is the newer sibling of my board. My mother has this board, although a slightly castrated version with only two dimm slots. It's stable though, and nary a problem. Same chipset ( but newer southbridge ).

Asus TUV4X is the newest implementation which can handle Tualatins.

CUSL2 would be another great choice. Intel 815e chipset. Rock solid.

Can anyone tell I like Asus?

Guys, he said cheap and he's only going to use the PC for MP-3 playing and e-mails. He doesn't need or want to build a state of the art machine or over-clocking gamer box.

Motherboards named below....

Abit BX-6 Rev 2 - not listed at Pricewatch - none shown on eBay in last 30 days.
ASUS TUSL2-C - Pricewatch, $87.50 shipped
Abit ST6 - Pricewatch, $69.00 shipped
ASUS CUV4X - Pricewatch $60 used, $83 new shipped
ASUS TUV4X - Pricewatch $78.90 shipped
ASUS P3V4X - not on Pricewatch (or eBay except in bundles)

Where is the cheap in those prices?

Try these prices on for size

Micro-ATX
Biostar M6VCF - $36 shipped
Biostar M6VLR - $54 shipped (no AGP - Trident Blade built in)
Soyo SY-7VCM - $31 shipped

Full ATX
Abit SA6R - $56 shipped (has RAID capability)
Gigabyte GA-6VX7C $30.50 shipped

The Biostar M6VLR price is from Newegg, the rest are from Computer Geeks. I've bought from both without a hassle. I've built 3 Celerons (two 733s, one 633) using the M6VCF boards.

The tusl2-c is a very good board, but cost a bit too much,
This board let me push my p3 733 (like your one) to 951(5.5 x 173)
