Typically I go to www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com) and then cross-reference the companies with www.resellerratings.com (http://www.resellerratings.com) . You can check around the BBS forums for stuff for sale as well. You will get your best deals here probably.

I used to use www.mwave.com (http://www.mwave.com) but they have gone downhill badly recently.

Good luck

2canSAM, I buy from Tiger regularly, no problems! Typically, people complain because they don't read the whole add! They cry because things are put on back order! Read the whole thing, if the add says it ships within 1-2 days, it's in stock, if it says 1-2 weeks...BACK ORDER! Also, the best way to order from them is to call by phone, talk to a person Monday-Friday (next day shipping), weekends you get a monkey writing down your order and it's not filled until Monday.

I've not had any problems getting my stuff from tiger direct, just watch out for the 10 day CPU warranty.

I'd not go the P2 route, if the CPU goes out, they are EXPENSIVE.

More than likely the mobo don't have on-board video and sound either, so the $90 deal starts going south real quick.

How about a K6-2 + 450 or 475 with nice mobo?

Tiger has a Epox 5SSM5 mobo with 133mhz FSB for $72.99 with on-board video and sound.
and
a 475mhz K6+ for $49.99, the plus series AMD are of the .18micron core that the newer processors were fabricated from, the old(1998) K6-2, Celerons, Pentium2 etc were .25 micron core.
This means less voltage required , so a el-cheapo power supply will do fine on a mid range system like this.

The AMD will smoke the P2 for very litte more money, and too the Super Socket 7 mobo will run lots of processors.

I have a Cyrx MII 433 that I got from McGlen that is a real quick system, I was honestly surprised at the diff from a 400 amd to the Cyrix. boot times drooped about 5 seconds, now at about 45...

Oops, the mobo is a SOYO, the good thing besides what I mentioned before is a ATA/66 ide interface on the mobo.

The box says 133 mhz FSB, but the manual don't .

Tigers ad says it has a agp port, then down below says it don't ,, we it DOES NOT. who cares anyway..

I am looking to build an older system that I can use as my test bed sys and am going to go with a pII 300-350. Locally I can buy it and a atx mobo for $145.00 well I saw a Tiger Direct catalog and they had the same setup for 90.00 I was about to order when I checked them on resellerratings and decided not too. My ? is are there any other places that mail order older parts like tiger does?
