any suggestions 4 a reliable, quiet DVD player - no knowledge of DVD players - do these devices play regular CD-ROM's also? Any help appreciated! Regards, Donn

I am using the Pioneer DVD 6x (model A103, IDE).
Good drive.
All DVD can read CD-rom.

I am using the Creative Labs Encore. Dxr2 5x.
It really can read everything (except playstation http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif). The movies are great, plus I like to show them on the tv when I want to sit back on the coach. If you have a fast cd you could get a controller for about $65
