what causes my system resourses to go from 85% to less than 65% in a few minutes?and is there anyway to fix this?i have an abit bx board,512 mgs sdram pc100 and a p3 500 mg procc,can u help?is there any bug fixes?

Sounds like you have things running at startup that are draining resources.
Go to start/run and type in MSCONFIG. The last tab should be startup and you can delete startup items there. Look for anything to do with M$ Office as that is one culprit.
