Some of the early GeForce4 MX chips had a rather bad compatibility problem with motherboards running Via KT266a chipsets which resulted in a POST error code and the PC freezing before anything was displayed on-screen. The second release of the NV17 core (the GeForce4MX chip itself) had this problem corrected.
My problem is this.
I have a customer who bought one of the 1st release gf4 boards with the faukty chip.
To solve this problem I'm getting him a board based upon the new Via KT333 chipset which I have read is really just an overclocked 266a chipset.
Can anyone confirm this?
If it is true, then is it possible that the gf4 card won't work in this new mobo either?

Did you try the VIA 4 in 1 drivers??

The problem is with the chipset, not any drivers that are/aren't installed within windows. Even if I had the latest 4-in-1 drivers it wouldn't matter because winows doesn't load. The computer doesn't even get up to the stage where it tests the memory during boot up.
The gf4 card works fine in other motherboards based on other chipsets.
