Playing AVI Movie Files

I have a problem playing AVI movie files in that when I load them all I get is the sound only

I Have a pentium III 500

with one gig memory

using windows media player 7.1 (latest version)

I have down loaded the Codec Files and it still wont play

me too, I think the problem is that the avi movie is slightly damaged, or code in a different way. It is slightly annoying, and it isn't just Media Player (suggest either the other players are just skins for Media Player, or the movie is knackered)

use virtualdub to open it, if you can preview in virtualdub then you will be able to encode it to a new format so that you can view it in media player.
