I have the following system:
Athlon 2000XP
1 GB PC 3200 OCZ-RAM (400MHZ DDR RAM)
MSI KT3 Ultra with Via KT 333 Chipset

Below u can see my Sandra test results.

My RAM is performing on the same level as a 266MHZ RAM. Can anyone tell me whats wrong?

Thanks for the help!

There is a setting (or some settings) in your BIOS that you must change to run the RAM at a higher speed.

There should be one of several options:

1) a setting for "FSB/Memory Ratio" that is currently (Auto or Manual - switch to Manual) 1:1. For DDR400 it should be a setting of 2:3.

2) a setting for "Memory Bus Speed" (Auto or Manual) that is currently "Host Clk" and should be "Host Clk+66", although only "Host Clk+33" may be available.

Unfortunately I am not familiar with your BIOS so I can't be of more help.

does this board even support 400 mhz ram

I suspect that is the case, which is why I put the qualifier in 2). It should be able to run at 2-2-7-1 at 166 though.

Thanks for all the answers!
As u can see from the Sandra Figures above, the system is running at a memory bus speed of 166MHZ. I have FSB 133, and HCLK +33. My RAM settings are as follows:

Host Clock: 133MHZ
SDRAM Frequency: HCLK +33
CL: 2.5
Row Precharge Time: 3T
Ras Pulse Width: 6T
Ras to Cas Delay: 3T
Bank Interleave: 4 Way
Burst Length: 8 QW
SDRAM 1T Command: disabled
FastCommand: Ultra

Can it be, that 1 GB of RAM is too much? Or that I should put the Rrimms in bank 1 and 3 instead of 1 and 2?

Thanks for the help

I recently bought a new mobo, ram and processor. it is an XP 2000+, 512 megs of OC systems ram (never buy anything from there, their tech support is sh***) and a Gigabyte GA-7VRX. it is supposed to take advantage of the DDR 333 but i don't think it does. I get about 2.2 gigs of memory bandwidth. Sandra doesnt even recognize that it uses DDR 333. it says 2x133 instead of 2x166. It is enabled in the bios
