I would like to install a faster CD burner in a computer already possessing a CD burner. Are there known problems with having 2 CD Burners on 1 System? This 'puter is running Windows XP Pro. If there is going to be a problem could I disable the CD-RW in the system and just use it as a Drive or should I remove it entirely in favor of the new Faster one (with an 8MB buffer!!!).

Thanks

Hello,
I had problems trying to use two different programs for copying (had ez creator and nero), Direct CD would lock me up. I had to uninstall ez creator. No problems after that.

It is possible to run EZ CD Creator and Nero on the same machine. The problem is that ezcd has an autostart program for Direct CD. Just run msconfig and uncheck any of the burner programs. This will prevent ezcd from autostarting.

As for 2 burners on the same system, no problem. All you have to do is configure the burn program to use which ever burner you want as Default.

Many of the latest versions of Nero allow you to use multiple recorders by checking the box on the burn tab.

One machine at work has 4 burners in it for making batches of identical CD's at one time.

you should have no hardware issues installing to cdrw's but as mant Burning programs dont like having 1 CDRW installed on the system . So it will just be a case of finding the best program that will allow you to use both drives simultaniously (probably Nero)

Thats very true. I have a freind who makes his own home movies of the kids and stuff at holidays/bdays etc. to send to relatives. He does 3 copys at once! Its great cause these over the counter burners arent ment to be used too heavily like the big buisness ones that have a huge run time life. They are burning like non-stop but the price is scary. The easiest/cheapest solution is multiple cheaper cdr-rws. Burning software co's are becoming more awair of the heavy use of burners. And this is why they are trying to add full compatablity to multiple burners. It makes sense as a smart buisness move.

Man, I am really lagging behind on burn software. I forgot that Nero will allow multiple burns at once. There is another program also, I believe its Click N Burn.
