sounds like a system stand-by problem, disable stand-by in power options in control panel

When ytou tun the PC on but th emonitor doesnt turn on - can you hear the hard drive clciking / accessing??
If so - try turning the monitor on a few seconds after turning on the power.

check in device manager for any yellow or red marks indicating that something is wrong . then power down, open case pull vid. card and reseat, just pull all cards out and reseat and check all connections to drives. if you've never done this before make sure you unplug the power cord before putting your hands in the case, also make sure your grounded to the case (static electricity can really mess things up)

another thing while your in there, do a thorough dusting job using canned air. make sure all your connections are good, including cables going to all accessories
