I caught a little bit of that new movie, "Reign of Fire". There was a Scot with a heavy brogue and a Cockney Englishman as the main UK protagonistists. I couldn't understand a word either of them said. I don't see how they could understand each other! After a spell, a group of Americans joined in and I said "Ah...that's what they're talking about!".

As for mancunian sounds as though theyre all chewing a great big wad of chewing gum when they speak.

cockney is actually fairly understandable, but for the rhyming slang - fortunatley my dad is from London so he can understand it.

the brummie accent just sounds as though the person is reaaaaly dopey -- or sleepy.

As for mine - its slightly similar to geordie, we use similar words liek man and like, but is a lot cleaner and more undertsandable. We also dont adjoin words and use ancint language such as "Da" and "Thee"


...and that concludes todays lesson in local language class ;)

Actually - geordies not that bad -- its peopel from south shields etc who have like a hybrid geordie accent thats really wierd.

being a teesider mines more similar to the middlesbrough accent.

the odd thing is that after 5 ays with mainly geordies i have started to say "man" "like" and "aye" unhealthily regularly :)
