I have a old compaq and what I need is to give it a bigger hard drive, the problem comes when all I have are fat32 hardrives .. the computer bios absolutly will not see anything other than Fat16, when I put put the fat32 in ,I get a message something to the tune of "wheres the os"

oh yes.. the bios must have been flashed wrong or something because I cant get into the BIOS.. there is a bios update to work with 32 but I have no way of getting it working

So I guess my question is , is there anyway to revert back to 16

Third party programs such as partition magic would do it otherwise you'll have to use fdisk to delete fat32 partitions and create fat16 2g partitions which is cheaper as in no cost. Win does not come with converters to go back to fat16.

so, all I have to do is partition to 2 gig part and it will format to 16?

If its a large hd like lets say 10g then when fdisk asks to use all available space select no then make the 2g size when asked how much space to use.
