Netscape 7

OK,, since I don't like IE for many reasons, including uncle bills spying on me, I thought I'd give this a try as I'm running 4.79 now and would like to upgrade to a newer and hopefully better browser.

So, this morning I download ver. 7 pr1, (I realize it's a beta) and install it in a seperate folder( just in case).

This is even worse than the 6x releases. It's SLOW, cumbersome, and doesn't even work right on install. I chose not to install AOL, ICQ, net to phone, mail and news groups, guess what,, it did anyhow!! I set it to use my system colors, I get a nice grey,, I hate grey, I tried to send a user report, it keeps telling me that my form is incomplete, neat feature, now they don't even know how bad this sucks. I did send an error report, and included all the above plus more.

Guess I'm going to delete this asap, and wait.

Anyone else have anything to say about it?? Seems that since AOL got hold of Netscape, they've gone to H...

Is there another browser out there besides IE that actually works??? :confused:

netscape navigator used to be better than ms explorer.

Netscape 7 its a preview, i hope the final release be much better. they integrated tabbed windows yay :r

I know it's a preview, but when they give you install options and a feedback form, they should at least attempt to make them work,, AOhell ruins another good thing, sigh,

OK, I got Opera, so far so good, would like to give mozilla a try, not sure of the spelling or addy though, anyone?? Yes, I'm shopping around :x

I stil preffer IE, I think me and netscape got off on the wrong foot when I used version 4 a while back, it took forever to load I just never used it again....

Well, netscape 4 may take a bit to load, but it don't save url's for Bill to see in hidden caches. And it works faster than 6x or 7pr do.. Man those are slow compared to 4.

Been giving Opera a try, so far, I'm happy, it hasn't crashed like netscape, it's really really fast and easy to use. Hmmm,, some one in the software world make an error??? A product that works??

We'll see.

I agree netscape doesn't phone home nor does bill want to know anything concering netscape which is safer than having billy watching you. I've used the new netscapes and didn't have any problems with it though I'm so use to 4.78 that I end up still using it as default browser.

I use Netscape4.08 upgraded to 4.78 I had net 6 and so on but I ended up trashing it out and going back to my 4.78. Dunno if it works with me or xp but I'm gonna be an old fuddy duddy and stick it out with 4.78 and win 98se.

Mozilla is great. Better than IE. Loads sites a lot faster than IE. Skin-able with around >15 Skins. Has a few add-ons, like (bannerblind(just what the names says), (spellchecker for e-mail)). There are downloadable updates available daily.

Looks like a bunch of us use netscape 4.7x. I've been trying Opera, and so far, it's faster than any I've used, hasn't crashed and even though I just have the freebee with banner ads, I'm happy. I am going to try Mozilla, who knows, I may like it even better.:t

opera is really cool, and netscape v6.2.2 is good too, dunno about v7

Opera is good to load stuff good for searching stuff. But something IE better than OPERA is loading Flash, Java sometime opera can;t open some page that have alot of graphic. SO i stich with IE6 & Opera. I like Opera czu i can open multi browser.

Not true, the best is Mozilla 1.0, which is Netscape 7.

Netscape is always 1 or 2 version behind Mozilla , cuz it has to make sure it has no bugs.

Netscape 7 is a bug, :D Even though I realized it was a beta, it stunk for a beta. It didn't allow for the installation options, it was slow and cumbersome, basically, I think it was an Omega, not a Beta, it sucked:r

OK, now I'm a happy camper, I just installed Mozilla 1.0, man is it great.:D

I turned the no popup feature on, wow,, is that nice or what:confused:

I only had a small glitch in it, it picked up the old file for my bookmarks not the current one for some reason, so I copied the current one into mozilla and all is cool. It's fast and smooth, no crashes, oh, and it even picked up all my prefs from netscape, even my login for here, so I didn't have to change that even, I'm super happy, Opera is good, but Mozzila just got a customer.:r

Oh, I also love the splash screen when it launches,, neat dragon:x
