When you but memory from Compaq, you are not getting memory made by Compaq, you are getting a stick made by some other company and Compaq put's their sticker on it. Compaq certifies the memory they sell and it's guaranteed to work on a Compaq system. You can buy any brand of memory you want and put it in, but it will not be certified by Compaq. Basicaly, when you buy from Compaq, you are paying a premium to them for them to gaurantee the memory they sold you will work in their system. My personal opinion is to go down to CompUSA or Beast Buy and tell them what system you have and get that Kingston memory and save a few dollars.
