I know this has been asked a 1000 times but here goes...Any tweakers out there have any suggestions for a case to go with my BX6 MB with lots of room and cooling ? I've been looking at the
AOPEN HX08
or the
SUPERMICRO CSE-023 760A

Thank you

Check out the Antec KS-180 ATX Premium Full Tower Case. If you get all the bells & whistles it's really something.

Rackmount chassises probably provide the best cooling solutions of any case. Most of them use 82~ 110cfm fans. One of the chassises I choose came with three hotswap removable 83cfm fans all in a row, dividing the drives bays and motherboard from each other. The 5U height 5200 series with eight shockmount bays up front. http://www.appro.com/enclosures.htm (in the picture at this link, it shows 2 redundent hotswap supplies taking up four drive bays. I selected a 400W ATX supply with the normal placement in the back, freeing up the bays..) The other one has a two 110cfm intake /out-take fans located in the far adjacent corners…

Recently I tried the Solid SteelTower Case from PC-P&C. www.pcpowercooling.com/ (http://www.pcpowercooling.com/) I guess this is similar to SuperMicro’s. This pictures the oversized 600W supply that covers up the cutout plate for two additional exhaust fans at the top back corner. You can choose any supply… The case has two intake fans at the bottom front. Very roomy. An ATX board looks very tiny in it or any of these chassises.

You can get 3-1/8”sq. fans that move 50cfm (Rotron CR0812UB. -Roy found these a while back..) for around $12 at Newark Electronics http://search.newark.com/ Unlike the large 4-3/4”+ fans the rackmounts use, these smaller fans that move a decent amount of air, tend to be louder but can fit into “regular” cases…

The problem with the rackmounts is the prohibitively high price.

There is another outfit, YeongYang, that designs cube based server cases at an affordable price. I haven’t tried these but they may be worth a look www.yycomputer.com/YY0210.HTML (http://www.yycomputer.com/YY0210.HTML)

Finally. Here’s a link to ATX chassis vendors. http://www.teleport.com/~atx/chas/index.htm You may be able to expand your choices before narrowing them down.
