Well, first of all, get a firewall. Then check for trojan horses like BO, Netbus & BO2K. If those don't show up, then most likely no one is "hacking" (or cracking?) your computer.

There is no way to completely protect yourself against web based attacks on your computer. Basically, if an Il33t h4><0r wants to break into your computer, they will.

Try the mantra of "Security though obscurity". Use non-transparant public proxies, don't ever post a "valid" e-mail (use Hotmail or something) & don't **** off anyone named "King Blotto" http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Is it true that when you have a constant, open connection to the internet (cable modem for example), people can have access to your files or PC controls? Ofcourse, file and printer sharing is not checked, but I heard they can somehow bypass that. How can I tell if someone is screwing around? And how can I prevent it? Thanks in advance.
