This may be a long-shot.... take the handle off the top of the box.....no.no......
Right click you My Computer and select properties, select the Performance tab. Click on the File System button, make sure the "Typical Role Of This Computer" is set to either Desktop Computer or Network Server (I heard setting it to Network Server speeds thing up a bit). There is a third option "Mobile or docking System"..... it might be set to that somehow.

Rat, it's running NT, just laughing at that program! I tryed it out on 4 other machines at home...it claims all are laptops (1 is).
