i've rescently acuired alot of noise in my sound system. only when the computer is connected though and the system does hum something feirce when set to the computer input, i was wondering if this could be an indication of early powersupply failure? my 12/5/3.3/2.5V values are as follows 11.95/4.95/3.30/2.51V respectively. might it be noise in the line as well? i've tried another sound card and got the same thing.
what do you think?
Thanx
i'm getting the feeling it may be line noise because it is a 60hz hum tell me what you think.

Specs look normal, how old is psu, soundcard and what brands are they? Generics psu don't last forever, make sure your speaker wires are plugged in one of them could be partially pulled out unplug and replug them a few times to clean them, could also be dust in soundcard input holes blow them out.

:t The good quality psu's have a line monitor device
Within, so if the output falls below a pre determined level
they cut off for the sake of reliability in processing.

So may be you could try replacing (temporarily) it with one
you borrowed?

The buzzing noise is a product of poor earthing (grounding)

If you take it to the kind man at the computer shop, you can bet
your life he will sell you something. If you need it or not. :t

Please don’t take the psu to bits It is more than capable of Killing you even if it is not plugged in!!!

Borrow one & test :p

I think your supply is fine. I'd put my money on a defective cable. Likely the shield/ground wire is open. Usual break occurs right where wire enters connector. If you have a voltmeter, I can further assist.
