My cd burner used to work great.
Now i can only copy data.
When i try to make a music cd it seems to write ok, but when i try the cd in my stereo it doesn't play.
Any suggestions?

The cds I make do not play on any machine.
The program I use closes the session.

Sounds like it's time for a cleaning. Go to your local computer store and get a CD ROM cleaning kit.

Does it play in other stereo's?

If so, then you can reasonably assume that the burn process worked just fine, and the problem lies with the 1st stereo unit you tried it on. It could need cleaning as suggested, or perhaps it just has trouble reading the media (ie: blank) that you used.

If it doesn't play on anything but a computer, then there are other things we can look at and likely remedy, but we'll save those suggestions pending your response for more information.

I was going to suggest what drizzle said about making sure you close the session. If you are sure you have done that, then I guess we need to look elsewhere.

Specifically, we should probably look at what mastering software you are using, and how you are using it.

Struggles makes an interesting point in that some mastering software requires you to specify that you are creating an audio CD, and that you either convert MP3 files to WAV so they can be burned in CDA format, or you need to tell the mastering software to do the conversion for you.

Have you changed mastering software recently, or upgraded it in some way? What software are you using to create CD's anyway?

One other thing, its a little easier to follow the thread if you post a response to your own post when you answer questions and so on, rather than editing the first post you made......that way, as we read it, we naturally go from the top down, and don't have to page up in order to compare what you added/edited to the replies you have gotten.

Tataurangi -make sure your CD burning software is closing the session after creating the audio CD. If the session is left open (to allow for more tracks to be written) it will not play in your stereo.

Are you converting your mp3 files to wav. files? If not, your cd-burner will read them, but nothing else.

you need to close the cd which is different from closing the session for it to play in a cd player
