What is the coolest cooling solution (bad pun) for the ultimate minitower PC? Is there a brand of fan you'd like to endorse? How about your favorite methods?

Personally, I swear by Yate Loon products ( http://www.yateloon.com ). They get the most abuse of any products I use, and they still hold up very well. I like my Vantec system blower, as well.

I aim all my exhaust fans out the back, and my intake fans draw air in through the front.

I use www.thecardcooler.com (http://www.thecardcooler.com) for all my cooling needs. I got the The Card Cooler XT 4-Pin and it keeps my case nice and cool. Also have the slot cooler and all work great, albeit my computer is a little nosier than I would like but that would happen from any companies fan...

Here's what I use for my full tower case and at 80cfm, it does quite a nice job! I liked it so much that I got one for all my systems...

I care about the CFM, not the brand. I see that the fans from Yate Loon are kinda low on cfm. For instance, I bought a standard 80mm fan that's 41.7 cfm. That's higher than the highest YL 80mm. A while ago I bought 2 Delta 60mm fans for 2 bucks a piece. They aren't the back lable, but still are really good.

I like them because they're quiet and reliable, and my 27CFM Yate Loon (DC80SM-12) fan hasn't been any trouble for a year now, while a 92mm "World Fan" sleeve-bearing fan (which came with my case) kicked the bucket back in July of 2000. And both had the same number of hours on them.

BTW: I replaced the crappy World Fan with a 44CFM sunon. In free air, it sure doesn't suck! However, I think that the holes in the back of my PC are too small for it to do any more than 30CFM. Bummer.

I prefer a 100% plastic case, no metal to hold heat...add 4 120's to it for good measure...if yer not cool enough yet...add a full Swiftech pelt/water combo...

i wanted to keep my full tower looking stock.
so i cut a hole in the bottom and mounted a 120mm fan for air intake.(i left the 80mm in the front also) as for the exhaust i use a global win 26 cfm near the processor, and a 92mm at the top of the case. fop-32 for the processor ,and a old 486 fan for the 3d card.(i don't evencount the one in the power supply.) gotta love them dremel tool's for opening up ,and putting holes were you need them.

Well, I was thinking about adding another 80mm fan while my motherboard is out of my computer. On the panel where my motherboard is located, I have the space to add another 80mm fan, but not the hole. How should I hack the hole to keep it as round as possible? I want to do this because it would help me take advantage of extra venting that goes unused at this point.

Arstechnica.com has a review on the Fong Kai 600 and 300 series. They are supposed to be superior in cooling. I have an elight 7237 and find that it cools a Duron quite well.

Depending on the strength of the metal in the case, you can use a hole saw found at your local Home Depot to create a fan hole.
