Hello world,
Does anyone know where I can find a program that will download a website?
But not like where explorer downloads stuff into a folder that is atached to the html file. That is terribly anoying because I want to be able to edit the site easly.

In IE, click on File->Work Offline
You can just go to "File" in IE and press "Save As" and it will save the current HTML page file and the image files to the folder you specify.... It will only save the current web page that you have opened... I don't know how you could download the entire site contents....
Yes there are appz out there to do that, never used one though. Try a demo of one at http://www.midnightblue.com/index.htm called super http or something like that.

I used a program called "WebCopier" some time ago. i liked some of the features, but it couldn't do what i wanted it to - and it stopped as soon as it met an ASP.
It worked by analyzin the HTML and findings the links in it. You could determine how many "levels" it should go down (subbpages), and if it were to only download from the starting server.
I think i found it on tucows.
Let me know if you find a really good one.

If you are a bit tight like me try this one called Freepix - its free and the only concession you make is that when the browser is first opened each session it takes you to the company home page. It uses its own custom browser and the blurb says that no information is transmitted back to the company. You just have to trust this as you must tell your firewall to allow the browser to access the Internet. I've no experience of these web spiders but it appears to do what it is supposed to do. Here is the link:

While you are downloading this utility (about 3.77MB) keep yourself amused with this web spider related screen!

Well, it kept me amused for a minute or two anyway!!

I don't think its about stealing code. After all, anyone is free to look at the HTML for any page, even this one!! These web spiders are just convenient things to use when you want to gather information and not keep clicking here and there all the time.

No I dont want to steal any code. I know a bit of HTML and I use dreamweaver anyway.
The reason I want to download a site is because a friend asked me to make his site look a little bit better. So the easyest way to do this was to download whole site.
And you cant realy use IE to download a site because it moves all the files into a directory and changes all the links to the HTTP address.
