Today, as an experiment, I disconnected the Vantec system blower I have in my computer. Temps went from 98 to 100 (degrees F) in the case ambient air, and from 104 to 106 on my Cel433 processor. Is this particularly dangerous? I kind of like how quiet my computer is now.
Nope, 2 degrees isn't going to make big difference.... Your system will be fine without the Vantec system blower....

Still, doesn't that seem just a tad warm? Especially for a Celeron @ 433 with stock fan and heatsink? My Antec Gemstone case has always run rather warm, though.
Yes, that does seem a bit warm, but nothing that should alarm you.... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif You might want to put a better HS & Fan on the CPU to bring down the temp. But like I said, it's nothing to be too concerned about....

I'm using the stock Nidec cooler that came with the processor. I've contemplated getting a ThermalTake Orb, just because the processor seems to run so hot. Right now my CPU is at about 107.6F, and my case is at 100.4F. Also, the fan/duct assembly where my Sunon 92mm fan is located is configured to exhaust, because when it intakes, it just recirculates hot air from the power supply. What kind of cooler would you suggest? Would a GlobalWin be far too loud? What about the knockoffs of the ThermalTake orb, such as the Tornado Monster Orb? Do you think they are any good?
Here is my suggstion for the Power supply unit.... Here is what I did... I disassembled the PSU and then flip the fan around so that it would suck out the air from the case (since heat rises and the PSU is located at the top portion of the case), and then I added a bay cooler that also sucks out air, a Twin Bay Cooler. The twin bay cooler is 80cfm which is quite powerful and quiet. I also have a 120mm fan on the front-bottom of the case to suck cool air into the case and an 80mm fan to suck in cool air right behind my dual CPU. And finally, I have 120mm fan at the top-back of the case to suck out air... more fans to suck out air is better (from my experience) than having more fans to suck in air since there is always a way for cool air to be sucked in from the case vents....
Despite the fact that Dual Processor systems run warmer than most systems, my Dual P3 800Mz @ 897Mhz runs at 79 degrees with stock HS and Fans.
