I have a Gateway with a celeron 333 mhz, WINDOWS 98-, 64 Ram, Dvd/cd rom --- Daily , if not more the computer locks up while the screen saver is in use-- then I have to reboot and it works fine for awhile sometimes over 24 hours sometimes just 15 minutes. I tried searching can anyone help me on this. I really appreciate any help.

is it some fancy screen saver ?
if so just select windows standard "blank" screen saver

The 3-D screen savers are known to cause hanging -- especially Pipes.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ::::I was using the standard underwater screen saver-- have not tried others--computer is 200 miles away due to holiday. Thanks

check to see if you have power down activated in the bios. then check to see if you have windows managing power down. if you have both activated there may be a conflict between the two. had a laptop doing the same thing the other day and that was the problem. shut down the bios power down and the problem was fixed.
