Hey all. Alot of you, like me, had posted numerous complaints about getting the IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL or the PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA bsods...
Well, I *finally* fixed the problem completely.
This applies to those of you with similar specs to me..
Gigabyte motherboard and fast ddr ram, such as pc2700 ram running @ 333mhz.
(I am using the GA-7VRXP.)
I dunno if it makes a difference, but i now have ALL of my VIA drivers up to date (A new one was released recently) and, of course, all of my drivers, etc. Do that first.
Under the CHIPSET FEATURES setting in the bios, there is an option called TOP PERFORMANCE. Disable it.
I am not quite sure exactly what this means, to be honest, but disabling it will allow you to make some settings manually. Something must be lost in the translation. I think that Top Performance ENABLED may be something similar to FAILSAFE settings for ram. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. (/me winks at Bipolar Bill.)
Step 1. Diasable Top PErformance.
Step 2. DRAM Frequency should be set to 333 or whatever mhz RAM you have. AUTO *should* be okay, and auto works for me, too.
Step 3. Change SDRAM command rate to 2T. It is 1t by default.
Step 4. Change CAS Latency to 2. The faster the ram you have, the lower the number. 2.5 is the default.
Step 5. Reboot and enjoy a crashless system.
LOL, I had swapped out my Ram Stick, hard drive, etc. But sometimes it is the simplest and silliest thing that we overlook.
I hope this helps others, I have seen way to many complaints about this. Happy computing!
