Hello there , is there a way to view movies with an extension " .DAT " (common files of VCD) in WMP7 ? If I open Explorer then double click one file (that I mention above) then WMP 7 can play it but when I open WMP 7 and open the directory that contains these files , nothing in there , when I choose "All file" from a drop list they appear but can't play , what's happen ?

try the drag and drop technique - i.e. open Mpayer and the folder, drag the .dat file onto the Mplayer window.....it possibly isn't recognising the file format and won't play, but when force opening it plays anyway.

hoole , thanks friend !!! :) A simple way but very useful , but I wonder why Microsoft doesn't reconigze it ? If they correct it maybe we don't need a third party software for viewing video.Once again thank you so much !!!

no worries.
a VCD is essentially a MPeg1 movie if I am not mistaken with a different extensions, same as a divx movie.
