but after playing all of the new ones

I still like to play Blizzard StarCraft + Brood War, more than anything else

Diablo 2 + expansion is my 2nd runner up

and WarCraf 3 is definitely my 3rd runner up, but it still lacks what i like in SCBW

All the games you listed are a 1 time played and shelfed deal.

The best game ever of all time is MOO2

and i can't wait for MOO3 to come out, i just hope it's not over hyped to end up just being a MOO2 in 3D, i'm really hoping to see new things and features, and game play in MOO3

DX1 was awesome, very frustrating but it always reeled me back in.... I'll be there waiting for DX2, I read previews/reviews for it, its the same bases as the first. I think its using the second generation Unreal Engine, 2nd gen. Quake3.. Second generation somethin.... :eek:

Krazy: It's a cool turn-based strategy game with a lot of combat. You can check out http://www.disciples2.com for info and a demo . It's not overly complex like other TBSs but is fun and challenging. Storyline in each of the four race's campaigns is entertaining as well.

I agree! I don't even know why I have it! The idea was good, but its been done about 300times! It had no originality, but its my opinion... It belongs in the $10 bin

To answer why,

I love WW2 and am ahuge history buff about it. But it ws os un-relistic. First look at d-day. Did you notice how few boats and men were landing in the first wave? Eactly way too few. Plus the factor of no blood( I know there are blod patches). Next it takes like 3-5 shots from a thompson to kill a guy. were one shot anywhere with a sniper rifle. Plus the shotgun was rarly used in the european theater of the war. Primarly in the Pacific not europe.

I would say MOHAA as well as it is a great game with really cool missions, graphics and gameplay.

I agree to an extent,

i ceratinly did enjoy MOHAA, and have had many hours of pleasure from it, however it did seem to borrow greatly from movies (especially saving private ryan), and didnt really get too difficult unitl like the last two levels - when it turned totally hectic :eek:

However it is a great game in its own respect and despite critcism its well worth buying ... IMHO

Mmm, i liked the first half, but after a while it got as boring as hell...

Another criticism i have about nearly ALL ww2 games is that the americans are heros, i mean the only mention of european influence was like the SAS guy and the underground french woman.... its like their saying its all americans that won the war.... and i hate it when people say that.

Anyway, if i remember correctly someone said DX1 was game of the year, WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry, i think it came out in 2000?

if im wrong then ill just shut up...

Well I think all Europeans should thanks there lucky butts that Americans entered both world wars. Just think if AMerica nver entered or never sent supplies to Europe. I garentee you that all of europe would be communist or just fallen from communism. As eventually Russia would have beaten back the Germans. And just went right through France and everything around it. Then Invade weak old England that was under German rule since America gave so many soldiers and supplies to England without America england would have fallen for sure. Americans were the Heroes in World War II. I dont know how you can think or argue any different. :t

Please - lets not dig up the past - granted the intervention of the US was the turning point of the war (even if you took your time coming), however i believe that its a little unescessary to get into a slanging match about one of the most costly (in terms of human life) conflicts of all time, lets just be thankfull that the we live in a relativley free worldf and can that be the last of it...

Yes, I can agree with you on the realism. I just like killing Nazis. Main reason I liked it was the scenery. The bombed out town was especially fun. At least it was more realistic than RTCW. :)

I also liked RTCW, it wasent meant to be relistic and they didnt make it out to be as MOHAA was.

I am not going to argue the fact as anyone who plainlly things they are just plain right are not very open so I shall not try.

i agree with gib on this, although MOHAA was more realistic than say RTCW, it wasnt the computer game that DEFINED what the second world war was really like - i mean - theres one set path through the omaha beach level, and if it was being entirely realistic - theres a negligible chance you wouldnt even make it up the beach at all. Overall MOHAA is the best tradeoff between realism and fun/gameplay other than CS, and this is good - because when a game becomes so real it gets boring well... i dont wanna know.

Couldn't have said it better my self. :) You think they could have even put more people in the invasion to make it realistic? I mean hundreds and hundreds of people and boats. We'd probably get like 2 fps on a p4 2.56 with a ti4600. Maybe they didn't add more people because of this reason. Then again maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. Oh well.... I ate too much...tired......

but i still find the modification for Half-Life called Day Of Defeat is absolutely fantastic, verision 3.0 is coming out next week, a good chance to play it as it adds a new class to the game and more maps etc.. waay heyy

I dont know why i like DoD so much, i just like all the ww2 action about it, i hate CS tho. Its so unrealistic it blows, global ops is good for that :)

half-life only was and is fun if I play it on a voodoo2....
Half-life still is boring though after awhile, its ded, it belongs in the $10 bin, not still on the shelves for $60, next though they'll probably come out with Half-life Ultimate Edition....
The one thing pissed me off bout half-life was the low bit-rate voice acting, so poor quality almost scratchy, I no its not my sound card i'e tried it on many other comps, and sound cards, my friends agree withy me.... EAX didn't help the game any, A3D did though, but thats way off topic now... heheh :cool:

the single player is boring in Xen, the voice quality is low coz it is a '98 game, they had to make do with what they could. it IS in the £10 bin, well in england it is.

its not in the $10 bin here cause its still sellin the platinum edition
I heard lotsa good voice quality in games prior than 98, old 95 games like mechwarrior, torins passage, Monkey Island. Sierra just didn't think about compression, the audio was in wav. format, and wasn't compressed on the cd, they coulda raised quality by making them m2 mp3's etc. then decompressing them during instalation... on my old 133 it took me like an hour to instal the game, no on my current pc it takes less than a minute

it was a waste.... it was even shorter than opposing force, u could easily beat blueshift in less than an hour... It was boring to, it should have just bin a downloadable mod.

I agree with you guys about HL to some extent, especially blue shift which was - to be fair - pants.

However if you leave Hl alone for about 4 months - then play through the whole think in a weekend - it really is quite good fun --- well at least until you reach xen :(

Yeah, i think we all agree when it got up to Xen it sucked donkey balls, i hated it, i mean the jumpy part about it was ok, until you died.... lol. Then there was that **** boss with the giant ugly head, then there is the 'no option' ending where you have to choose to go with him (g-man) or you die... bleh.

I think they rushed it when they got to xen or just got bored of mapping themselves :)

But the first missions seriously rock, especially when you get attacked by the grunts... and opposing force was a great add-on, especially the sci's vs grunts multiplayer :)
