oops! I just looked up your board - your RDRAM memory must have cost a pretty penny - Perhaps it is not rated for the speed?

I doubt that it's your OS (though I am not fond of ME).

It could be a CPU heat issue. Is this CPU really sold as an 866 or is it a 650 you are trying to clock to 866? Have you got the latest BIOS? I noticed that Asus has the maximum supported speed listed at 733mhz.

Nice looking specs on the motherboard.

Good luck.

well here is the story. when i first put evrything together i had a lock-up porblem with the computer. i thought i tried everything. but i guess i didnt. i bought the ram off of a friend with a VC820 Intel motherboard. so i thought to chance the MOBO. while taking the processor out i fumbled it. it landed on the MOBO. not to hard i thought. so i switched the MOBO's and could never get the intel going. same errors while instaling windows and durring start-ups.sample error- OE:0028:00700400 or OE:0028:C000BDED VxD VMM(01)+0000ADED. so i switched back to the Asus. the only way to install windows was to underclock the processor. it is a 866 with a 133mhz side bus. going to 650 i get a 100mhz side bus.i have a dual fan-heatsink on the processor so i dont think its overheating. it happends on a cold start as well. and im not to fond of Windows me myself.hehehe.the Asus supports up to a 933mhz with the new Bios last time i checked. and i have the current Bios for the Asus.
Thanks for the help
