Decided to finally go and write this test cause hey its something good to have. I just wanted to get opinions from people about how they found the test to be what was the difficulty of the questions in the test.
Ive checked around places and they generally seem to be saying the the test is pretty easy and most of the questions i have seen from it are quite easy
thanx in advance http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

A+ for Dummies and the A+ for Dummies Flash Cards can be very helpful.
The new format is adaptive so there are fewer questions than the old exam which had about 70 questions for each module - it took much longer than "2 minutes" just to read them all.
I agree about the operating system part being the most difficult. Still, you should memorize all IRQs and the most common I/O addresses.
Do a little research at www.comptia.org (http://www.comptia.org) I think you have your choice of the old test that covers DOS/Win3x/Win9x or the new "beta" test that covers Win9x/WinNT/2000 -I believe that passing either one will get you certified.
EDIT - one more thing, you had better know the laser printing process and a little about printers in general.

Hi jaida,
Just took both tests berore christmas. Heres a couple things to consider before taking the tests.
1. The core is relatively easy, providing you studied.
2. I took about a hundred sample tests on the web which helped alot BUT, the sample questions were nothing like what you find on the test.Real test questions were much harder!
3. The win/dos is a little tricky. I studied my ***** off and still had some difficulty, although still passed. Make sure you know about networking with 98.Very few dos questions or 3.11, mostly 98.
4. I was averaging 98-100% on sample tests and just squeeked by on the windows test.
5. I had memorized all IRQ , mem adresses, dma, and i/o adresses (which sucked)and I think I got one question on them. Go figure. I can't remember any of them anymore, must have deleted em.
6. Study,study,study!!
7. The questions are super easy on the core. I was finished in about 2 minutes. I was actually pissed because I probably studied way to much for this one. And, for $128.00 I expected alot more. CompTIA must be making a fortune.
8.Spend more time on win3.11,95 and 98 more than anything else. Know your navigation.
9. Study some more.
Good luck!!
Let us know how you make out.

Canadians and Canucks Will Defeat The Flyers is another good one for printing process.
If you REALLY want to understand the printing process, go here. (http://www.oasis-imaging.com/tech/laser.html) Professor's notes (http://www.okc.cc.ok.us/pweaver/1413note.htm) , sample exams (http://www.mcseguide.com/aplus.htm) , and free downloads. (http://testprep.techskills.com/)
