Just a random topic:
Hardware is the physical components of your computer: cpu- ram, etc.
Software is the programming that we use on the hardware
Firmware is like software except it's software on hardware (I.E. Flash ROM chips, Bios, etc.)

So isn't ALL software firmware? I mean for software to exist it has to have manifest on some hardware, thus defining it as firmware, yes?

Just ranting around

firmware

Software (programs or data) that has been written onto read-only memory (ROM). Firmware is a combination of software and hardware. ROMs, PROMs and EPROMs that have data or programs recorded on them are firmware.
