Now all we have to do is wait for AMD to release it's L2 cacheless version of the K7 without the plastic cover, the "Athloneron 500" - and when it flops in the market due to dismal performance, AMD can release the "Athloneron 500a" with 128k intergrated L2 cache.
This chip will undoubtedly be fantastically overclockable to 750mhz, causing sales of the more expensive Athlon K7 to drop, faster versions of the Athloneron will no doubt be released and then AMD will release the "Athloneron socket XYZ",requiring a special socket which is the same mechanically as a socket 8 but different electrically. However, an adapter card will be probably be available to run the XYZ chip in a slot "A." motherboard.
Next enter the "Athlon III." with a newer and more complex instruction set *(R)"RLG Now" (Real Life Graphics Now)
and the fun never end$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
