What's the scoop on this combo, P3 Slot 1 and the expensive RDRAM memory..
Is RDRAM out?
A has-been, a never was, or an up and coming thing that is why SDRAM is being given away like yesterdays hotdogs.?

Rather than repeat what better men than me have written about, I'm just going to direct you to a series of articles on Rambus over at this website:

DON'T COME EVEN CLOSE TO THIS BOARD.
Then it came out, like six months ago, we (I visit sometimes in hardware store of my best friend) purchased three of these boards with RIMMs to test and sell it to "Advanced" clients. First, we had some hard times at the lab while building systems, with multiple crashes during install or just working alone, didn't ran them for very long time since somebody got interested and bought all of them. Well, the day after he called my friend and complained about crashes, and one of the new guys was a small NT server ... can you imagine ?
Well, we took 'em to a lab, worked more than three days, including bios flashes, latest driver updates and Intel support - NOTHING.
We returned them to supplyer as "defective" and never since then touched VC820. But few friend of mine, who got also excited with RDRAM, bought mobos and had all the same problems we had ...
I also read on net about dudes having same problems of lockups and crashes, there was even topic on "CPU .." a few weeks ago about same mobo ...
Well, you've been warned http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

That's why I ask.. I knew I could depend on you guys for a warning if the item was "Problematic"
Thanks a lot for stopping me, (as if the $400 for a 128mb RDRAM chip didn't) http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Thanx
