Hello, I have a small home network. (6 Computers) They all are 98se or ME. Except for my 3:) I just installed XP for the first time and here is my problem. I can see their computers but I can't access them. It tells me that I don't have permission to use this network resource or something. I didn't have this problem when I installed 2000. It's fine if their computers can't access mine for now. I would just like to access theirs. Mainly because I backed up alot of files accross the network before I did a fresh install and would like them back.
If ya'll can shed some light on this I sure would appreciate it.
Thanks

What is the name of the Workgroup? Are they all using the same subnet mask? Are any of those PCs using firewalls?

We're all on the same network. Same subnet mask. The only firewall I have is hardware on the router. It's a Netgear RT314. Anyways, I can see everybody when I look at the network in explorer it just won't let me look at their drives or access their computers.
Thanks

Shares are set up on the other PCs and you can't access them from XP? It usually just the opposite. Are you logged in using Client for Microsoft Networks?

Got it fixed. Just played around with it today. I turned off XP's built in ICF (Internet connection firewall) Now I cann view everyone and move all the files I want. Thanks for the help guys.
