Acer 4x4x32 isn`t seen after move

I have a 2 year old Acer cd-rw that has been used maybe a whole5 times in it`s life. I just moved it to my new Athlon Thunderchicken unit and installed the software(Adaptec) that came with it. The problem is that on POST it shows up as a cdrom but it doesn`t do anything. I can put in a cd but it can`t read anything from data to music.It just keeps telling me "no media found" or drive not ready.It does power up and the drawer opens. What do think? Gary

I have ..Maxtor 8 gig on ide 1, dvd(mstr) and cd-rw(slave) on ide 2, Win98 FE and I`m not sure which Adaptec version it is...I`m at work now. Gary...this is basically the same setup I had except with an Athlon 750.
