Hi all, I am not sure where to place this topic.

Anyways, I just installed IIS on my windows XP professional. I was planning just to test out some websites on my computer, maybe set a personal page for myself.

I know that files should be located at C:\Inetpub\wwwroot . I placed a picture there to test it, and i put http://MyIP/mypic.jpg . It worked fine. But when someone NOT on my computer trys to access it , it gives this error

The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

So how do i let others access my sites which I will set on my computer?

SECOND: Is setting IIS on my computer with zone alarm (free version) safe for people to access??? or will they be able to hack??

P.S.: I don't know anything about IIS, so if anyone has a website for tutorial will be cool.

if you have a firewall on (or the windows xp firewall), you'll have to create a 'hole' in there for other people to be able to see your webpage. also, make sure that both computers are on the same subnet and in the same workgroup. try it just as http://[mycomputername]. it'll have a default webpage.

i just actually uninstalled the IIS, and installed APACHE.

now with my firewall on, how can I create a hole?? because no one can view my site on my computer.
