At the end of "Bios" info, this message has appeared: bad command or file name, press any key to continue. This must be done twice.
What do I have to do to remove that message from my screen?
I'd deeply appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks in advance,

You should always mention your OS. I assume that this is Win98 or ME.
You need to note the name of the program or command when you see it. Write it down. Once in Windows, open MSCONFIG.EXE and search SYSTEM.INI, WIN.INI, AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS for the command and remove that line or edit out the command itself.

Hi BipolarBill --
I was amazed to find your response to my "problem in booting up" so quickly. Thank you so much.
I must, however, tell you that I'm an "86 year old goat"who happens to believe that the computer is the "GREATEST". I must also say that I have an awful lot to learn.
Re your response, your assumption that my OS is Win98 is correct.
I followed your instructions and opened MSCONFIG.EXE and then searched each one of the tabs. Doing this was a new experience for me. Probably, because of lack of knowledge as to what I was doing and what to expect, I was unsuccessful in spotting anything that seemed to relate to my problem. Also, when I highlighted a subject and clicked "edit", nothing happened. No explanation of the subject appeared.
Maybe this info will shed some light for you as to what I was doing when the problem arose. I was attempting to install the McAfee anti virus scan disk V 6.0. I had V4.0 in my computer and was instructed to uninstall it which I did. I believe I followed each instruction but , no doubt, screwed up when I entered a file name. That's when the screen informed me that it was a bad command or file name. I was unable to successlully install the program so I reinstalled my V4.0 and that's where I am now. The only bother now is that I must "press any key to continue" when booting up.
If this additional info helps you, maybe you can get me on the right path to correct the problem. I have a feeling that my inexperience may be at the root of my failure to straighten up and fly right. I sincerely hope you will be able to get me back on the right track. Again, thanks in advance for your effort to help me.

Before continuing next time, write down the command. Windows tells you what it is right there on the screen.
Alternately, you could just delete these two files on C:
AUTOEXEC.BAT
CONFIG.SYS
Win98 doesn't really need them.
