DDR or SDRAM? which is better?

Simple! if your mobo doesnt support sdram then ddr is better and vice versa.

DDR ram is much faster in a system than SDRAM. It is newer technology, runs faster, and is about the same price

I wish I had DDR, I have 512Mb of SD but DDR would give me a definate improvement if only my board would support it.

You should also consider cost, but based on performance alone DDR is clearly better.

DDR offer double the memory bandwidth than ordinary SDRAM.

I had DDR with ALi chipset, and then I upgraded new mobo with via KT266A chipset. I notice a speed improvement. I ran SiSoft Sandra memory benchmark showed a good increase in bandwidth, that's due to KT266A chipset, which optimized DDR performance.

its not maxed as far aa being a top of the line, but it looks like a good price to start with

thing is if my Asus A7Pro is still up and good, I won't have a choice there with the RAM

but the socket A will swap back and forth (going for a 1.2 Ghz Duron) so I can see if the Asus is up at the same time too ....

Ive seen 256mb 133mhz sdram at less than 30$, vs the new 256mb ddr running at 333mhz for 75$.

So twice the speed 2x the cash:eek:

Just for the record, both DDR (Double Data Rate) and SDR (Single Data Rate) are SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory).

So to be correct you should say, DDR or SDR SDRAM?

DDR = Double Data Rate...
SDRAM supports one operation per clock cycle...
DDR supports two operations per clock cycle... therefore, doubling the bandwidth...:D
