Lost Icons on Desktop !!

Rebooted my computer yesterday and when it booted up, the Icons were all gone !! Could move the Cursor around, but nothing to click on. Couldn't go anywhere !! :-(
Finally just had to run my Restore disk to get everything up and running again.

What would have caused this ??

The system icons are stored in a hidden file named ShellIconCache in the Windows folder. To put the icons into effect, you have to force WinMe to refresh this file.
The easiest way is to right click the desktop, click Properties, and select the Appearance tab. In the item list, select icon, modify the size value, and then click Apply. Return Icon to its original value and click OK. This should work, but as to why they disappeared with WinMe who knows?? Check Sfplog.txt, (Start, search,type in and then click to open, see what was going on when the discrepancy happened, problems will be dated. Good thing there is System Restore.
