I know what some of these programs runig are like norton/ internet explorer but not th others.
does anyone know how to find out.

In a simple and faster manner:

Explorer: obvious
Atrack: This is your Norton firewall
Navapw32 and NProtect: both part of Norton AV protection
Mediadet and Ctnotify: both used by Creative's Media Detector (CDROM)
Iamapp: This is your firewall too
Sytstray: Controls everything located in the system tray
Rnaapp: I have reasons to believe that this controls the currently running applications on your PC, but I'm not sure

Indeed - very useful - especially as im off on a crusade to reduce the amount of RAM that win 2k gobbles up on boot, this could be most helpful.
